Meet Pickles – a 5-year-old mixed breed dog who’s ready to embark on a new chapter of life. Although he may appear timid at first, he has a heart full of love and a resilient spirit just waiting to be discovered. He recently spent time with a volunteer in the play yard where he just found a safe spot and laid down, welcoming the volunteer to pet him and calm him.
Being a shy dog, he can easily be overwhelmed by new experiences and unfamiliar surroundings, however he is extremely gentle and affectionate. He craves a home which can be calm and understanding to his likely longer-than-normal acclimation period. Positive reinforcement and gradual exposure to new experiences will set him up for success!
Pickles has heartworms but it’s treatable and not contagious.
If you’re interested in learning more about Pickles, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at [email protected] with the subject line “Pickles 240306”.
Pickles is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.

We are having a lot of different emotions and it is a tough time for many of us. We have seen these stories on the news in other communities across the country, but when it happens in our own community, it is different. We just want you to know we are here for you, as we are every day, and we love you. Hug your loved ones extra hard today and don’t ever be afraid to say, “I love you.”
