Here’s a newsletter straight from Raleigh Medical Group!
“We know you have questions about the spread of COVID-19, also called the coronavirus. We want to assure you that we are dedicated to your care, and we have policies, treatments and procedures in place to help you.
Just as important, we want to be sure you have access to resources where you can keep track of the latest developments with the coronavirus.”
Where can I find reliable information?
The internet is full of information, but not all of it is reliable or accurate. Therefore, the best resource is the site for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), where you can find extensive facts on the COVID-19 coronavirus. The CDC site is updated regularly, and has information on:
- Symptoms
- How it spreads
- Prevention
- Testing
- Treatment
You may also want to review the CDC’s frequently asked questions about coronavirus . Another useful source of information is the website for the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
Will patients be tested for COVID-19?
We will continue to offer the highest quality of patient care, and as a part of this, we will follow the CDC guidelines for screening patients. We will do this based upon:
- Travel to high risk areas as defined by the CDC (within 14 days of symptom onset),
- Close contact with those who have tested positive for the virus,
- Symptoms (to include some or all) of fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat and shortness of breath.
How do I stay safe & reduce my risk?
We understand that the outbreak of the coronavirus is upsetting and can be frightening. For the majority of people, contracting the virus would be a mild event; much like the symptoms of the common cold. However, we would like to emphasize that the best way to stay safe is to take some basic precautions. These include:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
- Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol.
- Avoid close contact with those who are affected. If you do have contact with those who are sick, don’t touch your face until after you have a chance to wash your hands.
