Go Kenzie!
14-year-old Kenzie Hinson operates the Make A Difference (MAD) food pantry in Mount Olive, and she is competing in the General Mills’ Feeding Better Futures Scholars Program.
She created her pantry when she was just 10 years old! Feeding 25 families out of a small church fellowship hall.
Since then the pantry has expanded to feed more than 7,000 people in need each month. MAD offers a fixed food distribution site, a mobile pantry for seniors, backpack and summer food programs for kids, weekend outreach pantries and disaster relief efforts.
If she wins, she’ll receive a $50,000 grand prize to expand her operations, as well as the chance to share her idea at the Aspen Ideas Festival held in Colorado each June.
