Orange County LocalFest is a diverse, family-friendly festival that celebrates and promotes local food, local music, the local economy, and the county’s heritage and culture. There will be a wide variety of musicians, as well as craftpeople demonstrating blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving and much more. In addition there will be plenty of fun activities for kids, including pony rides and art-making, and there will be cooking demonstrations, plus food and drink for purchase.

Downtown Hillsborough
The last Friday of every month, rain or shine, Downtown Hillsborough showcases its art scene with the Last Fridays Art Walk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Explore art galleries, artist studios, fine jewelers, boutique shops and award-winning restaurants. The activity takes place mostly on and around Churton Street, between West Margaret Lane and West Queen Street. You can find a map and information on each participating venue on Hillsborough Arts Council’s website. Also at the event will be a free concert by North Tower.

Downtown Cary
Once a month on the last Friday, Cary showcases its artists and musicians at the Final Friday Cary Art Crawl. Art galleries stay open later, and there are live performances at the entertainment hubs. Visit the website for a map.

Sunday, September 30: 1 p.m. to midnight
Carrboro’s 21st Annual Music Festival takes place this weekend at venues all over town. The festival kicks off Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Carrboro Farmer’s Market. Then there’s a free show in the Cat’s Cradle Back Room Saturday night at 8 p.m. On Sunday, there’s music all over town in more than 20 venues. Visit the website to get a full listing. PNC Arena
The Hurricanes’ preseason game at 1:30 p.m. is sold out, but you don’t need tickets for the Caniac Carnival. There will be inflatable rides, interactive games and booths, a kids’ zone, sports area, live music, and appearances by Stormy and the Pepsi Storm Squad.
