This concert series has been bringing great artists to Durham Central Park all summer, and this Friday is the season finale. It features Jenn Bostic, a soulful singer/songwriter with a hint of blues, soul, country, pop and gospel.

North Carolina Summer Opera is a new opera organization, established in 2018. It’s presenting its first production, Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot, in semi-staged workshops this weekend, twice, once in Raleigh and once in Durham. The performances will be accompanied by piano. Sung in Italian, with English subtitles. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
Skywatching—The Perseid Meteor Shower

Staff and volunteers from the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society, and Raleigh Astronomy Club are joining up for a free skywatching program. You’ll get to look through telescope at a variety of objects in the sky. Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will be prime targets, but keep an eye out for meteors. This is the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower.
