Audio Under the Stars is a summer-long audio festival. The stories are curated by local audiophiles at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies. The theme for this episode is “Awkward.” Bring a chair or blanket.

Stop by the coffee shop at The Durham Hotel for a celebration of typewriters. If you have an old typewriter of your own, bring it by and the typewriter gurus will clean it up for you and set you up with a new ribbon. Type a letter on one of their typewriters and they’ll spot you nice paper and stamps. Get a poem or story on-demand from a local writer. Also enjoy typewriter-themed music and film. You could even win a vintage typewriter in the raffle.

Learn all about the sun on the Sunday closest to the summer solstice. Observe the sun through a special telescope on the rooftop terrace. There will also be talks from astronomers and more.
