The Triangle Volksmarch is an annual, self-paced walking challenge for all ages in Raleigh, along the Capital Area Greenway.
Pick up a free map and passport at any of the event sites. Then visit stamp stations along 6.2 miles (10 K) of the Capital Area Greenway anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and earn the Volksmarch patch. You can hike the whole trail and catch a free shuttle back, or hike a portion of the trail and reverse back.

This annual festival has been recognized as one of the best festivals in the Southeast. There will be music, drumming, dancing, crafts, arrow-shooting and other sports, food and much more.
Raleigh Christmas Parade

Downtown Raleigh
The largest Christmas parade between Washington, DC and Atlanta features bands, floats, balloons, entertainers and Santa Claus. The route is about 1.4 miles and the parade lasts about 2.5 hours.

Downtown Durham
Shop for holiday gifts and art at this event that takes place in Downtown Durham. Tons of artists are showing and selling their work, and there will also be 21 musical artists performing on two stages. Also, at various sites there will be arts activities for adults and kids. Start at Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris St. You can pick up a map there, and most sites are an easy walk from that location.
Sundays in Hillsborough

This is the last scheduled Sunday in Hillsborough event of the year. In case you haven’t checked out these weekly free concerts, this is your last chance. 19 Miles from Davis is a Raleigh/Durham-based band that plays classic rock, folk, blues, and a bit of country crossover. Besides the concert at the courthouse, visit art galleries, and enjoy craft beer, wine and some good food.
