The second Friday of every month, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to Chapel Hill and Carrboro for an ArtWalk. Experience live music, food, activities, hands-on art demonstrations, discounts, and more. Download a map to help make sure you don’t miss anything. 27 venues are highlighted on the map.
Wake Forest Mardis Gras

White Street, in downtown Wake Forest
This free, family-friendly event will include a walking parade, festival, free kids’ activities and bounce houses, and contests. Also, merchants will be offering discounts and activities throughout the day. Food trucks will be at the Fidelity Bank parking lot, 231 South White Street.
There will be acrobats, a juggler, a balloon twister, and other street entertainers throughout the day. You don’t need to register to participate in the walking parade. Just join in.
After the festival ends, stick around in downtown Wake Forest for a free Wake Forest Listening Room concert at Sugar Magnolia Café with Americana/country artist David Fair.
Home Movie Day

Home Movie Day is an international celebration of amateur films, designed to provide a showcase for home movies. Dig through the attic and bring your 8mm, Super8mm, 16mm film, VHS and Video8/Hi8 video tape to see your film projected. Also, Raleigh’s A/V Geeks Transfer Services will transfer attendees’ film to digital formats for free at the program-first come, first served.
Music of the Carolinas-Orgullo y Alma Latina

The North Carolina Museum of History, 5 East Edenton Street, Raleigh
PineCone (Piedmont Council of Traditional Music) and the North Carolina Museum of History partner to present nine free concerts a year. The tickets are free but required. They are distributed, first-come, first-served, starting at 2 p.m. the day of the concert. This Sunday, see Orgullo y Alma Latina, a traditional folk dance group that transforms Mexico’s traditional dances into an art form.
Steel String Sessions

The 2nd Sunday of every month, Steel String Brewery hosts Steel String Sessions, a free concert. This Sunday it’s the second anniversary of the series, and June Star, the band that played in the first Steel String session, is back. Tips for the performers are appreciated.
